Omaha Freedom Festival

General FAQ’s

From 12 – 5:00pm, the festival is a free family event.  Each attendee, including children must have obtained a free day pass for admission. 

1 ticket per attendee required. Children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a responsible adult the entire time.

There are 2 ways to obtain a free Festival Day Pass:

1.Digital Day Passes are obtained thru Eventbrite

2.For those that are unable to obtain a digital Day Pass, a small amount of Physical Passes can be obtained at LeFlore’s Fashions, 1806 N 24th Street, Omaha, NE.

Being in possession of a free Day Pass does NOT guarantee entrance as capacity is limited and will be monitored.  Be prepared to wait in a socially distanced line until entrance is available.

2.The following bags are allowed (1 per person):  small clear bag (max 10×10) OR small clutch-sized purses (4×6).  Adult with child in diapers can bring a small diaper bag.  See Clear Bag Policy for more details. 

All items brought into the festival are subject for search and wanding.

3.No outside food allowed. Food will be available for purchase with credit only (no cash).  Come prepared.

4.No outside alcoholic beverages allowed nor will alcoholic beverages be sold during the day at the festival.

5.Only non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase during the day time.

Festival staff reserves the right to turn down purchase requests for any reason.   

5.Each guest is able to bring a manufacture-sealed water bottle that will be checked at entrance.  No other water bottles of any kind will be allowed.

6.All attendees will be screened with wands at entrance. 

7.Omaha Police and Private Security will be on site.

8.No signs of any kind will be permitted inside festival grounds.  No impeding other’s personal space or purposefully obstructing view.  No fighting, yelling, using foul language or generally disrupting will be allowed.  Participants will be escorted off premise with no refund.

9.All attendees must be properly clothed to include shirt, shorts/pants and shoes.  Any person not properly clothed will be denied entrance and/or asked to leave with no refund of ticket purchase.

10.Any person(s) disrupting the concert may be denied entrance and/or asked to leave with no refund of ticket purchase. 

11.No rushing the stage or obstructing the artist’s or speaker’s ability to perform.  Anyone in violation will be escorted off premise with no refund of ticket purchase.

12.Based on local safety guidelines – Mask Wearing is encouraged for un-vaccinated individuals (but not required). Social distancing strongly encouraged.  Hand sanitizing stations provided throughout festival grounds.  Masks will be available for free to those that choose to wear (or bring your own).

13.Festival merchandise will be available for purchase with Credit Cards, Cash, and cash app only.  Please come prepared.  No refunds.

14.This is a rain or shine event.  No refunds.

15.The festival is a family-friendly environment and expects everyone to comport themselves properly. Festival management reserves the right to deny access to the festival for any reason and/or escort attendees off premise with no refund. All daytime festival attendees must leave the fenced in festival section by 5:00pm to ready for the concert. Those staying for the Concert will need to go thru entrance again to be screened, show the paid Concert ticket and obtain an arm band to consume alcohol, if of legal age with valid ID.

From 12pm – 5pm, The Kidz Zone has TONS to do for kids with adult permission and hands-on observation!

  • FREE LUNCH* – each attendee will receive a meal ticket upon entrance.  Includes: Hamburger or Hot Dog, Chips and a drink, Popcorn, Cotton Candy and Snow Cones, while supplies last. 1 per person please. 
  • Rock Climbing Wall, Carnival Games and Video Game Truck & Virtual Reality Showcase
  • Photo Booth – get your souvenir photo printed on site!
  • Arts & Crafts – make a bracelet, button, flag, or show off your talents with sidewalk chalk
  • Face Painting, Balloon Artist
  • Omaha Public Library’s Washington Branch will showcase its reading in the park exhibit.  Take a walk….and read.  Pick up a Let Freedom READ bookmark!
  • Bike & Helmet Raffle – Each child under 15 will be given a free raffle ticket for a chance to win!  At the top of every hour (1, 2, 3, 4pm), Houston Alexander, MMA fighter from Omaha will call out winners (10 per hour; total 40).  Bikes are sponsored by the Omaha Black Police Officer’s Association and the Helmets are from Union Pacific’s WE ARE ONE program.
  • Watch the Omaha Children’s Museums stage shows: 
  • 12:30 – The Amazing Bubble Show
  • 2:00 – Mad Scientist Outreach
  • 3:45 – The Amazing Bubble Show
  • Check out the coloring book station and hang out with the Omaha Storm Chasers’ & Union Omaha soccer team.
  • Pick up a sugar cookie from Target, while supplies last!

At 5:00pm, please prepare to leave the Fenced-In area of the festival to allow festival management to clean the premises and prepare for the evening concert.  All guests inside the fenced in festival grounds must depart the area by 5:00pm. Those staying for the Concert will need to re-enter and show their paid ticket for admission. VIP ticket holders may re-enter at 6:30pm and general admission at 7:00pm. 

From 7:00pm – Midnight, each attendee must have a pre-purchased Concert Ticket for entrance.

Details:

  2. For those that are unable to purchase a digital ticket, a small amount of Physical Tickets can be purchased before at LeFlore’s Fashions, 1806 N 24th Street, Omaha, NE.

There are 2 types of Concert Tickets:

  1. $125 VIP – entrance begins at 7:00pm.  Tickets include:  premier seating (max 4 per table), Chair & Tented Table Provided, Free Buffet Style Food, Access to Top Shelf Bar ($), Early Admission.  1 Ticket per attendee needed.
  2. $75 General Admission – entrance begins at 7:00pm. Standing room only. Food & Beverage Vendors Available ($).

Additional Information:

  • In the event of an official postponement by festival management, fans who have purchased tickets for the postponed event may use them on the rescheduled dates. 

Evans Street Will Be One Way East from 36th to 33rd Street starting 6am day of the festival:

To help with traffic flow on the day of the festival, Evans Street, the main street on the North side of Malcolm X, will run one way only OR East from North 36th to North 33rd Street starting at 6am on the day of the festival thru 1am after the concert.

Parking:

There are 3 reserved lots for free parking ready for festival traffic!

General Admission Parking: Use the private lot Southeast of Malcolm X.  Enter off of 33rd & Emmet Street. If this lot is full, go to Salem Baptist Church off of 33rd & Lake Street.

Volunteers & Festival Staff – Park at Salem Baptist Church at 3131 Lake Street, enter off of 33rd & Lake Street. 

VIP Parking:  Park at King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church at 3202 Evans Street.  Enter off of 33rd & Pratt Street.  If you hold a VIP ticket, please show your ticket and park here.

Shuttles:  There will be a few shuttles running in loops every 15 minutes to pick up and drop off individuals at each parking lot that would rather not walk to the entrance gate on the North side of Malcolm X.  Look for the shuttle signage to wait near at each parking lot.  Please socially distance. 

Parking Attendants: Each lot will have on site attendants for assistance throughout the festival. Please leave valuables at home and lock all vehicles upon exit.  Freedomtainment nor its partners is liable for lost, stolen or damaged property.

The following bags subject to search will be allowed on festival grounds:

  • One small clear bag (max 10×10) OR one small clutch-sized purse (4×6), per person
  • Appropriate sized bags for medical necessity (be prepared to prove)
  • One small diaper bag for adult with young child/children.  (This is an outdoor festival with port-o-potties; therefore no diaper changing station)
  • Stroller for young child/children

All items brought into the festival are subject for search and wanding.

Omaha Police and private security will be on site.

Here’s a helpful list of things that you might just want to bring to help with having an enjoyable festival experience!

  • Day Pass and/or Concert Ticket in digital or physical form (no tickets sold on premise)
  • Manufacture-sealed water bottle.  No other outside food or beverage allowed.
  • Credit or Debit Card – this is a cashless event
  • Good pair of shoes to walk on grass, trails, cement and keep you moving all day.
  • Things to  help you with the elements:  Sunglasses, Sunscreen, Bug Spray, Hat/Visor, Ponytail Holder, Chapstick and a Sunny Disposition.
  • Although hand sanitizer and masks are available at the festival for free, you may wish to bring your own COVID supplies.
  • Any approved outside items brought in must fit on your person or in a clear bag no bigger than 10×10 and be ready for search at entrance!

The following items are not allowed on the festival grounds to include all near adjacent areas such as in the parking lots, on the streets, sidewalks, buildings, inside tents or on the person:

  • Metals or weapons of any kind or illegal substances
  • Alcoholic beverages not purchased from an authorized vendor on site by a person of legal age to consume pre-screened with a viewable arm band.
  • Professional audio or video recording equipment, drones, selfie sticks or laser pointers
  • Signage not authorized by festival staff
  • Clothing with vulgar verbiage or depiction
  • Noise makers or any items to specifically to throw at people or on stage, instruments
  • Coolers, tents, umbrellas, backpacks, duffel bags, hula hoops, rave toys, blow up toys
  • Pets (except for official service animals)

3rd Party Food & Beverage Vendors will be on site following required COVID protocol.

  • Public-facing food and beverage vendors may be required to wear face masks.  This is subject to change based on state or county health directive.
  • Concession stands will operate as “cash free” environments. All major debit and credit cards will be accepted.  Please plan ahead.
  • All food and beverage products sold on premise will be served either in enclosed containers or wrapped. Bottled, non-alcoholic beverages, canned beer or mixed alcoholic beverages with lids will be served.
  • No fountain sodas or draft beer will be available.
  • Alcoholic drinks will only be served after 6:30pm.  Anyone consuming alcohol will be pre-screened and must show legal identify to receive arm band prior to purchase and consumption.  Festival staff reserves the right to turn down purchase requests for any reason.
  • No outside alcoholic beverages allowed.
  • Each guest is able to bring a manufacture-sealed water bottle that will be checked at entrance.  No other water bottles or beverages of any kind will be allowed.
  • Omaha Police and private security will be on site for enforcement.

All guests will be required to follow current requirements, as applicable. (which may change at any time)

Face Masks:

Based on local safety guidelines – Mask Wearing is encouraged for un-vaccinated individuals (but not required).  Masks will be available for free handout to those that choose to wear (or bring your own).

Social Distancing:

Social distancing is strongly encouraged.

Reminders will be posted throughout to encourage social distancing, to mark entrances and exits and to promote good hygiene.

Hand Sanitizing:

Hand sanitizing stations will be provided throughout festival grounds.

This is an outdoor festival with port-o-potties that will be periodically cleaned.  As there is no access to running water; users are strongly encouraged to please sanitize before and after use at the stations provided or via personal supply brought.

Additionally, both visitors and staff members are outwardly encouraged to carry personal sanitizers.

Enhanced Cleaning & Sanitation:

Freedomtainment is staffing additional custodial crews before, during and after events who routinely use disinfectant for daily cleaning procedures. Cleaning solution with claimed effectiveness against coronavirus is in regular use.  Areas of frequent human contact (restrooms, hard surfaces, doorknobs) are cleaned multiple times a day.

Inherent Risk:

An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public space where people gather. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. Festival attendees assume all risks arising from the risk of contracting COVID-19, whether occurring before, during, or after the event, however caused or contracted. You agree to comply with all applicable laws and directed health measures as well as the safety protocols and procedures required by Freedomtainment with regard to COVID-19. You also waive all claims against Freedomtainment, White Rhino Productions LLC, Malcolm X Memorial Foundation, and any other person or entity associated with this event, except for claims arising out of the grossly negligent conduct of the foregoing parties.

*All implemented measures will adhere to Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services guidelines.

Occupancy limitations will be dependent on permitted capacity on the event date as directed by health officials.

  • VIP Seating: limited to 4 per table
  • General Admission Concert Seating is standing room only.
  • Do not sit or stand in marked off areas.
  • Guests are prohibited from accessing the Stage Production Area, Festival headquarter area, employee-only areas, and any of Malcolm X Memorial Foundation’s buildings unless made publicly accessible.
  • Guests will be expected to limit their movements in and around Malcolm X Memorial Foundation to reduce congestion.
  • Guests are expected to practice physical distancing when entering/exiting the festival including while waiting in lines.
  • Guests are expected to practice physical distancing when entering/exiting Malcolm X Memorial Foundation including while waiting in line.
  • Additionally, the fenced in festival grounds will be cleared immediately after the 5:00pm activities to help prevent groups from gathering and continue a safe, socially distanced space.

In the event of a postponement by festival management, fans who have purchased tickets for the postponed event may use them on the rescheduled dates.
