Department of Black Studies Cynthia L. Robinson, Ph.D. will Read The Emancipation Proclamation, a presidential proclamation and executive order issued by United States President Abraham Lincoln on January 1, 1863, during the Civil War. The Proclamation changed the legal status of more than 3.5 million enslaved African Americans in the secessionist Confederate states from enslaved to free.

Evening presentation (approx. 5-10 min):
At the top of the concert, having the MC introduce the audience to the site and recognizing WHERE they are, the memorial site for Malcolm X!
Executive Director will speak to the audience and welcome them to the grounds; a brief update on MXMF and encourage the community to bring others to the site or schedule a site visit for a tour.
